Wine, Why, and Work: Our Weekly Roundup of Career Opportunities in WIL/Career Ed

Every week, I dedicate a couple of hours to scrolling through university and college career sites across Canada. Why? Because I have nothing better to do on a Tuesday night? Not exactly. Typically, this means I’m sitting down with a glass of wine, either having travelled (like today, where I’ve driven eight hours north to our family cottage for The Talent Strategy Collective’s strategic planning session) or wrapped up in the usual mix of work and life responsibilities.

Am I doing this because someone is paying me? Nope. Nada. Do I get some insider knowledge on career opportunities in our industry? Sure, but that’s more of a perk than the purpose. Any other guesses?

If you guessed, it’s because I want to give back to a community that’s given me so much; you’re close. The real reason? I love helping others find their “why.” One of the greatest joys in my career is either creating roles that align with people’s unique strengths and talents (my fellow Strengths coaches, my Individualization theme is shining through!) or helping people find positions where they’ll thrive. There’s something magical about being in a role that lets you live out your purpose—where your values align, you look forward to Mondays, and you work not just for the paycheck but because it brings you joy.

Not every day will be bliss, but when your skills, strengths, and “why” line up with your work, it’s something special. By sharing these opportunities, I hope to give a little nudge to anyone searching for that alignment. Maybe you’re a manager looking to design roles with purpose in mind, or maybe you’re just curious about the industry pulse. Most of all, I hope this helps someone find their path, their purpose, their “why.”

And if you haven’t found your “why” yet, that’s okay. Start by thinking about what gets you up in the morning, what connects you to a larger purpose. Purpose is more than a trend; it’s a grounding force, even if we sometimes need a reminder.

Here are some roles across the country that might be just the opportunity you’re looking for—or the perfect match for your unique purpose.
